Cadbury Launches Unique Promotion to Benefit Global and Local Charities and Demonstrate the Value of Giving Generously

Cadbury’s latest promotion One for Me, One for You* is giving one lucky Canadian the chance to win $100,000 AND give $100,000 to the charity of their choice‡ ***

Winner!Cadbury, one of the world’s best-loved confectionery companies, is taking an exciting leadership role by combining charitable giving with a consumer promotion. Today, the company is launching One For Me, One For You*, a unique promotion which involves 15 leading global and local charities and requires the help of Canadians to bring the giving and receiving to life.

“Giving back to our community is part of our DNA and has been since John Cadbury opened his first shop nearly 200 years ago,” says Gary Scullion, General Manager for Canada, Cadbury North America. “In a year such as this, we are imbedding the essence of giving directly into our brand promotions and now we’re taking it one step further by introducing the reward of receiving as well. One For Me, One For You is entirely about the joy of giving and receiving and it asks Canadians to put their mark on charitable giving and know there’s something in it for them too.”

The One For Me, One For You* promotion is an example of Cadbury’s innovative approach to social responsibility and developing programs that demonstrate how simple, every day purchases like chocolate, gum and candy can help make a big difference to those in need. Participating Cadbury brands include chocolate favourites such as Caramilk* and Dairy Milk*; leading gum brands like Trident*, Dentyne* and Stride*; Maynards* candy including Maynards Wine Gums*, Sour Patch Kids* and Cherry Blasters*; and all HALLS* products.

How it Works

The One For Me, One For You* promotion asks Canadians to visit one of two URLs: www.oneforme.caopens in a new window or www.oneforyou.caopens in a new window. The site is designed as a mirror image, where one side offers the “ME” (receiving) element and the other side offers the “YOU” (giving) element. Once on the site, visitors are invited to try for the opportunity to win $100,000 and to give $100,000 and it starts with the chance to win and give an instant prize. Participation in the promotion is granted with the entry of a UPC code of any participating Cadbury confectionery product and the entire experience is designed with the spirit of both giving and receiving as for every prize awarded, a donation is given, all the way to the grand prize.

Going for the Instant Win

The instant prizes are shown through fun, creative graphics that, when scrolled over, describe what’s in it for “ME” and what’s in it for “YOU”. For each instant prize won, Cadbury will make an equal donation to one of a select group of global and local charities. For example, for every book store gift card awarded, a donation will be made to World Literacy of Canada, to help promote literacy and education for children and adults. There are over 200 instant prizes available to be won and the participating charities include: World Literacy of Canada, The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Canada, Goodwill Industries of Toronto, MusiCounts, One Laptop Per Child, The Humane Society of Canada and Tree Canada. There is an opportunity to learn more about the charity by visiting an available, direct link to every charity’s website.

Going for the Grand Prize

Whether or not an instant prize is won, Canadians are automatically entered into the grand prize draw, which will award one lucky Canadian $100,000 for them and $100,000 for the charity of their choice‡. Charities hoping to receive the major donation of $100,000 include: The David Suzuki Foundation, The Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research, The Canadian Cancer Society, The United Way of Canada, The Humane Society of Canada, The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Canada, World Vision Canada, Opération Enfant Soleil, CARE Canada, Tree Canada and UNICEF.

Cadbury has performed extensive research into charities that cover a wide range of disciplines, including global charities, organizations that support community and local programs and not-for-profits that devote themselves to improving the health of Canadians.

Throughout the entire online program, Canadians are empowered by choosing to give or to receive and that is the joy of One For Me, One For You.

A History of Giving

The One For Me, One For You* promotion follows on the heels of the successful launch of Cadbury’s The Bicycle Factory* program, the first total company promotion executed in 2009. As a result of the success of The Bicycle Factory* program, Cadbury will deliver 5,000 bicycles to school children in Ghana, Africa in this fall. The promotion has also offered one lucky Canadian the consumer prize of accompanying the Cadbury team to help with the delivery of the bicycles in Ghana
