Being a part of our community is part of our corporate history. It's not a nice to-do but an imperative. We continually try to improve the effectiveness, impact and social benefit of our community activities and we treat our commitments the same as we would any other part of our business.
We have always recognized that we do not operate in isolation but have responsibilities to our employees and the society in which we operate. Cadbury was well known for its pioneering work in the 19th century, providing housing, education, welfare, and recreation facilities for the local community.
As we have grown as a business, the expectations of our consumers, customers, employees and wider society have also increased. Today we firmly believe that doing good, is good for business.
In Canada, we take great pride in caring for the outdoors. Through educational programs at the school level to hands-on work right in our own backyard, we believe in the importance of the environment and we've focused our community giving on keeping Canada green.
