Encouraging Sustainability At Work - Each and Every Day

A big part of our Purple Goes Green commitment is sharing our goals with our colleagues and bringing them along to help us realize our goals. Meeting our commitments requires change and we need people within our business to rally for that change.  The Green Advocates were born. These individuals are environmental enthusiasts that advocate on behalf of our commitments and help bring our goals to life at each location, with all colleagues, with local flare. We have over 200 green advocates around the world – representing 50 Cadbury sites, in 35 countries.

In Canada, our Green Advocates have brought to life:

Tumbler

• Vermicomposting that turns our food waste into rich, valuable soil

• Reusable water tumblers to replace all bottled water at several Canadian sites

• Eco Fairs that help our colleagues be more mindful at work and at home

• Network printing, defaulting to double-sided black and white

• Motion sensor lighting  and computer software that sets the computer to sleep mode after inactive use which alone is expected to curb our energy consumption by 20%

Bullfrog Power

In Canada, we have bullfrogpowered™ our Toronto head office and Stoney Creek distribution centre with 100% green electricity. By choosing green power, we’ve reduced our emissions footprint by more than 3,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide, 10,000 kg of sulphur dioxide and 3,000 kg of nitrogen oxide*. As one of Bullfrog Power’s first commercial clients, and still one of its largest, we’re proud to support the development of new renewable energy.

*Calculations based on the Bullfrog Footprint Methodology for 14,500 megawatt hours from April 2006 to Dec 2008
