Cadbury Dairy Milk Goes Fair Trade In Canada

Cadbury has been an active member of the Ghanaian community for over a century and it is on the 100th anniversary of our first full cocoa crop from Ghana, Africa that we announce Cadbury Dairy Milk* - one Canada’s leading chocolate brands - will receive Fair Trade Certification in Canada
Going Fair Trade will:
• Quadruple the sales of Fair Trade cocoa from Ghana under Fair Trade terms as a result of Cadbury’s commitment to Fair Trade across five markets, including Canada
• Will affect over 40,000 cocoa farmers and open up new opportunities for farmers to benefit from the Fair Trade system
• Assure Canadians that when they buy Fair Trade Certified Cadbury Dairy Milk – they are directly benefitting farmers and their communities
This pioneering announcement is deeply aligned with our values and principles and is a natural evolution of the work we have done in Ghana for over a century. Fair Trade Certification of Cadbury Dairy Milk is the largest Fair Trade chocolate announcement in Canadian history, bringing Fair Trade chocolate to virtually every corner of Canada.
Fair Trade Certified Cadbury Dairy Milk bars will arrive on Canadian store shelves in summer 2010. Fair Trade Certified Cadbury Dairy Milk bars are now available in the UK and Ireland and Australia and New Zealand will begin shipping certified bars in their markets by Easter 2010.
